At XPO Logistics, we know our employees are our biggest asset. As Director of Human Resources, you’ll be responsible for driving profit in the region through effective application of various human resources strategies. You will partner with the Vice President, HR (VP HR), a Regional Vice President (RVP) and the regional team, acting as a liaison between employees, management and the HR function. Your role will ensure a differentiated and engaged workforce that delivers discretionary effort.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the VP HR, RVP, identifies and implements HR strategies and activities that have direct impact on the profitability of the region and the company
  • In coordination with the Human Resources Managers and District General Managers, investigates and resolves employee relations issues that arise in the service centers
  • Supervises 5-8 HR Managers in the region; conducts performance management, development, coaching and mentoring activities with direct reports
  • Acts as liaison between hourly employees and management, representing both fairly and professionally
  • Advises management regarding employee relations risk assessments
  • Ensures compliance with all company, government, labor and transportation industry regulations.
  • Engages content experts as required.
  • Delivers training to maintain compliance
  • Coaches management and hourly employees regarding policies and procedures, discipline, interpersonal and teamwork opportunities
  • Promotes employee engagement directly and through the regional, district and local teams
  • Ensures effective communication is occurring through various methods that connect employees’ work to the broader business strategy
  • Responsible for delivering XPO HR initiatives to the region
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of service center management teams; recommends and delivers interventions with the support of HR specialists
  • Acts as the champion of XPO values in both modeling them and in coaching and training others


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, business or related field
  • 8-10 years in human resources as a generalist preferably in the logistics or manufacturing sector
  • Travel 50 – 75% to service centers within the region. Flexibility to deploy quickly to locations as required
  • Strong business and financial acumen with keen ability to identify and deliver impactful, bottom-line improvements
  • Excellent verbal, written, listening and presentation skills. Professional demeanor and presence
  • HRMS, Office and other HR software skills


  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources, business or related field
